Based on Christopher Hampton’s play of the same title, this low-budget, largely European film - directed by Agnieszka Holland - essays the tortured and torturous 19th century homosexual relationship between French poets Arthur Rimbaud (Leo) and Paul Verlaine (David Thewlis).

Enormously talented, hopelessly immature, shamelessly spoiled and single-mindedly self-destructive, Rimbaud plays Mozart to Verlaine’s Soliari in this tragic and obsessive love story that is based largely in fact.
