On January 15^th, 1999, Alex Garland’s best-seller of the same title (adapted for the screen by John Hodge) commenced principal photography on Phuket Island, Thailand.

Directed by Danny ("Trainspotting") Boyle for 20^th Century Fox, besides Leo, the film stars Tilda Swinton, Virginie Ledoyen and Guillaume Canet. Along with Boyle, producer Andrew MacDonald and screenwriter Hodge represent a triple-threat, having worked together before on "Shallow Grave," "Trainspotting" and "A Life Less Ordinary.
